Lobbying Congress
The current Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 121 requires Dispatchers in order to operate. Many believe that changing this code takes times and the wheels of bureaucracy are slow, however, a change to the CFR can be made as quickly as it is entered into the Federal Register. Those with deep pockets and a vested interest, can enact change before the rest of us have time to react.
So where do we go from here? Our job is to get ahead of those seeking change that may inevitably end our careers before they get authorization to do so. Showing up to work, providing value, and being professional are a task we can all be a part of. Beyond that, Dispatch Union Groups across the industry have joined together with a call to the current Administration and Congress to step on the brakes and draw attention to the importance our position provides to the safety inside the National Airspace System.
We are incredibly fortunate to have many passionate individuals that work in our airline offices who are spearheading this cause. There is still more to come, but the steadfast goals remain protecting our jobs, safety, and the industry.
